ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS
F.A.I.T.H. is a support group for home educating families and a member of Charlotte Home Educators Association (C.H.E.A.).
As our name implies, F.A.I.T.H. is primarily made up of Christians. Because of this, we approach home educating from a Biblical point of view. We believe that home education is a means to raise godly children who are sound in character as well as academics. Our purpose is to equip our children to excel within their own gifts and talents, as well as use their talents to make a positive effect on their world for Jesus Christ.
We do not wish to exclude any home schooling family in our community, but we reserve the right to plan and carry out activities in accordance with Biblical standards. We ask our members to uphold these Biblical standards when making their home school decisions. We have been blessed in North Carolina with one of the most lenient home school laws in the nation. Please consider what impact your choices may have on future home schoolers' rights to continue to home school. "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.... Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. (Romans 13:1-2, 7)
Our goals are simple:
-
To provide encouragement and information to families who are home schooling any of their children.
-
To provide opportunities for home schooling families (in our group) to become better acquainted.
-
To provide some parent-directed group learning experiences for our children.
As we run the race that is set before us, we know that we need one another. Ecc. 4:10
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” Support is giving and receiving; serving and accepting service, benefiting and benefiting others, so that when we finish the race we can rejoice with one another that our children are walking in truth. (3 John 1:4)
The F.A.I.T.H. group has a director and an advisory committee to the director. There are also coordinators for the various functions and activities. They work together to set policy and plan guidelines for smooth operation of the group. The existing committee appoints new advisory committee members.

To assist you in directing your questions or suggestions to the right person, a more complete list of job coordinators with contact information is included in the members pnly portion of this website. We welcome you and your creative ideas. Let’s work together to make F.A.I.T.H. a better group for all of us!
If you are not a member of F.A.I.T.H., please use the Contact Us button at the top of the page and we will be happy to address any of your questions.
We do not raise funds for our organization. By providing a network of home schooling families, we hope there will be many benefits, including new social opportunities for the children, sharing of resources, updates on legal issues and requirements, group privileges and discounts, counteracting that feeling of isolation, and many more. To this end, we are always trying to seek better methods to communicate with members and bring in fresh ideas about meeting the needs of our group’s families. The group director and advisory committee meet periodically to discuss how best to serve those needs and welcome input from all members.
MEMBERSHIP POLICIES
-
In order to be a member of F.A.I.T.H., you must be registered with the state and in compliance with all state regulations regarding home schooling. For more information on state law, visit www.ncdnpe.org.
-
All members are required to pay annual dues to cover the expenses of the support group.
-
Members agree to contribute to the group by doing a F.A.I.T.H. job. We cannot all do equal work, but we can all do something to help. Contact a Board member if you do not have a job assignment. First-year members are not required to have a F.A.I.T.H job.
-
Returning members will be asked to list their past job on the next year’s membership application and select four jobs in order of preference. (This allows the board to assign your next priority job in the event more than one person wants the same job.) Failure to do so will place continued membership in jeopardy.
-
Only F.A.I.T.H. members may participate in F.A.I.T.H. activities (Only support meetings are open to others). F.A.I.T.H. membership also qualifies you to participate in C.H.E.A. activities.
