NCHE/CHEA Contact Person
1. Call NCHE and Department of Non-Public education and introduce self. Explain to them you will be F.A.I.T.H.'s contact person for people with questions regarding home education in the area.
2. Take emails and calls from prospective home educatotrs and give information to them that is helpful to their understanding of home educating and how to begin, such as:
- How to register with North Carolina
- The organization of CHEA and local support groups
- The availability of home school resources at the public library
- The www.ncfaith.com website for application
- Options for outside classes
3. Be cheereful and encouraging to those inquiring. You will be representing home education to them.
4. Organize a list of names and phone numbers of othe home educators who would be willing to answer questions on topics with which you are not familiar, such as:
- Home educating children with special or learning disabilities
- Home educationg junior or senior high schoolers
- Home educationg elementary ages
- How to start with pre-schoolers
- Home schooling and the working mom
- Home schooling and the single parent
5. Must be available by email and have an answering machine. Return emails or calls within a 36 hour period if at all possible.
